  Este trabajo indaga la experiencia ritual por sí misma, un tema relativamente desdeñado por la antropología. Pero no cualquier experiencia ritual, sino aquella que llamaré extrema. En esta exploración —que toma como punto departida los estudios que realizara Victor Turner del Chihamba, el culto de aflicción más importante de los ndembu—me animan al menos dos propósitos: primero, el de averiguar qué datos nos ofrece esta clase de experiencias extremas que las celebraciones rituales pueden suscitar a partir de una reflexión sobre el silencio pleno y lo inefa-ble, el lenguaje ritual, la experiencia de lo otro y el performance; y, segundo, polemizar con la tesis antirreduccionista que cierta fenomenología de la religión ha defendido para comprender las experiencias religiosas, sobre todo lasque denomina místicas

  This work inquires into the ritual experience itself, atopic that has been relatively scorned by anthropology. Indeed, not any ritual experiences, but the one that will be called extreme. This research starts with the works of Victor Turner about the Chihamba —the most signifi-cant ritual of the Ndembu— and from this fact there are two main purposes to be followed. Firstly, finding information regarding these sort of extreme experiences aroused from ritual celebrations by means of a reflection on full silence and on what cannot be expressed, the ritual language, the experience of oth-ers and the performance. Secondly, arguing with the antireductionist assumption that has been protected by certain phenomenology of the religion in order to understand religious experiences, mainly the socalled mystical ones
