    Los retos a los que nos enfrentamos con el desarrollo constante de la sociedad de la información en este siglo XXI van estrechamente ligados al concepto de ciberseguridad. En el presente artículo se muestra la evolución de esta idea de seguridad de la información y su normativa a medida que la tecnología y las amenazas a la misma han ido cambiando. Unas amenazas cuya evolución también se analiza y cuyas consecuencias han hecho insoslayable el objetivo de garantizar e implantar la seguridad en el ciberespacio, al tiempo que se respeta la privacidad y la libertad de los individuos. Así lo han entendido los principales Gobiernos que han convertido la ciberseguridad en una de sus prioridades estratégicas, debido a su impacto directo en la seguridad nacional, en la competitividad de las empresas, y en la prosperidad de la sociedad en su conjunto.

    Si bien la transformación digital ya era un reto al que las organizaciones debían enfrentarse con mayor o menor premura, la irrupción de la pandemia de la COVID-19 propició en 2020 la necesidad de adaptar de forma acelerada los recursos tecnológicos y humanos a esta nueva realidad. Una realidad que, en el caso de España, vendrá marcada en los próximos años por el desarrollo de la Estrategia Nacional de Ciberseguridad, el nuevo esquema nacional de seguridad que están en vías de aprobación y la gobernanza por parte de los actores, públicos y privados, responsables de implantar y facilitar un ciberespacio seguro y confiable.

    The challenges we face with the constant development of the information society in the 21st century is closely linked to the concept of cybersecurity. This essay shows the evolution of this idea of information security and its regulation as technology and threats to it have changed. They are threating whose evolution is also analysed and whose consequences have made the objective of guaranteeing and implementing security in cyberspace, while at the same time respecting the privacy and freedom of individuals, unavoidable. This has been understood by the main governments that have made cybersecurity one of their strategic priorities, due to its direct impact on national security, on the competitiveness of companies, and on the prosperity of society.

    While digital transformation was already a challenge that organisations had to face with greater or lesser haste, the outbreak of the Covid19 pandemic in 2020 brought about the need to adapt technological and human resources to this new reality at an accelerated pace. A reality that, in the case of Spain, will be marked in the coming years by the development of the National Cybersecurity Strategy, the new National Security Scheme that is in the process of being approved and the governance by the public and private actors responsible for implementing and facilitating a secure and reliable cyberspace.
