El criptojudaísmo y su derivación posterior en el marranismo han dado lugar a la existencia de dos corrientes historiográficas que plantean interpretaciones muy diferentes sobre la supervivencia de la religión judía y su práctica entre los judíos obligados a profesar externamente otra fe. La divergencia nace principalmente de la diferente consideración metodológica sobre la religión como categoría a tener en cuenta o no en la investigación histórica

Cryptojudaism and its subsequent derivation in marranism have resulted in the existence of two historiographic currents that pose very different interpretations of the survival of the jewish religion and its practice among jews forced to profess another faith externally. The divergence arises mainly from the different methodological consideration of the religion as a category to be taken into account or not in historical research.
