    La sociedad del Trienio se polarizó sobre el eje político liberalismo-realismo. Y desde la misma época se presentó a Navarra como un feudo realista y a La Rioja como un bastión liberal. Interpretación seguida y completada acríticamente por parte de la historiografía posterior. Configurando en el imaginario colectivo una frontera política entre ambas regiones mantenida durante el siglo XIX en las guerras civiles vertebradas sobre el mismo eje. Para explicar el surgimiento de ese mito regional identitario y contraponerlo con los hechos históricos, analizamos el apoyo que la revolución y la reacción tuvieron en la ribera del Ebro y la colaboración de liberales y realistas de ambas provincias.

    Hirurtekoko gizartea muturretara joan zen liberalismotik erregezaletasunera zihoan ardatz politikoan. Eta garai hartatik beretik aitzina Nafarroa feudo erregezaletzat jo zuten, eta Errioxa, aldiz, gotorleku liberaltzat. Ondorengo historiografiaren multzo batek interpretazio horri jarraitu dio eta modu akritiko batean osatu du. Eta hala, iruditeria kolektiboan muga politiko bat sortu zen bi eskualde horien artean, XIX. mendean zehar mantendu zena ardatz horretan bertan egituratu ziren gerra zibiletan. Eskualdeen identitateari buruzko mito horren sorrera aztertzeko eta gertakari historikoekin alderatzeko, iraultzak eta erreakzioak Ebroren erriberan izan zuten babesa aztertzen dugu, bai eta bi probintzietako liberalek eta erregezaleek izandako lankidetza ere.

    Society under the Trienio Liberal (Liberal Triennium) was polarised between liberalism and royalism, and from that same era, Navarre was presented as a royalist heartland and La Rioja as a liberal bastion. This interpretation was acritically continued and completed by subsequent historiography, drawing a political border between the two regions in the collective imagination which was maintained during the 19th century in the civil wars waged on the basis of the division. To explain the emergence of this regional identity myth and hold it up against historical facts, this paper analyses the support that the revolution and reaction had on the banks of the Ebro, and the collaboration of liberals and realists from both provinces.
