Resumen de Variación en el sistema de cuantificadores: el caso de harto

  Este trabajo aborda el estudio de harto como cuantificador en el español de Chile, donde esta pieza léxica puede usarse como determinante y cuantificador de grado. Se describirán esos dos usos y se propondrá que, en el español de Chile, harto es un cuantificador impreciso, como mucho, y no uno de exceso como demasiado. Se mostrará, además, que el proceso de gramaticalización de harto adjetivo a cuantificador se dio en español antiguo, donde el cuantificador harto funcionaba de forma paralela a como lo hace actualmente en el español de Chile.

  This paper studies the behavior of harto as a quantifier in Chilean Spanish, where this lexical item can be used as a determiner and as a degree quantifier. Both uses will be described and it will be proposed that, in Chilean Spanish, harto is an imprecise quantifier associated to the high degree on the scale, in a parallel fashion to mucho, but it is not an excess quantifier, unlike demasiado. In addition, it will be shown that in the case of harto, the grammaticalization from adjective to quantifier took place in Old Spanish, where the quantifier harto displayed the same properties as harto in Chilean Spanish.
