Resumen de L’editto adrianeo in Gai., inst. 1.55 e 93: la «famiglia» «romana» degli stranieri

Michele Giagnorio

  • Through an edict, recalled by Gaius in the first commentary of his Institutiones, the emperor Hadrian recognized to the foreigner who had requested and obtained the Roman citizenship for himself and for his children, the additional right to have the children in power, provided that the subjection to the paternal power resulted, after a careful analysis, advantageous for the children. The present contribution, starting from the analysis of the content of the edict of Hadrian, aims to develop some brief reflections on the relationship between the acquisition of Roman citizenship and integration of the new citizen in the traditional customs of the Romans, with particular attention to the reasons behind the imperial provision.
