  La provincia de Alicante cuenta con un rico y variado patrimonio hidrogeológico, representado por numerosos enclaves identificados en estudios y publicaciones previas. No obstante, su evaluación conjunta y homogénea no se abordó hasta el año 2012, cuando el Instituto Geológico y Minero de España (IGME) y el Departamento de Ciclo Hídrico de la Diputación Provincial de Alicante llevan a cabo el proyecto de Patrimonio Hidrogeológico de la provincia de Alicante (IGME-DPA, 2014). En este proyecto, que nace con la finalidad de identificar los lugares hidrogeológicos de mayor interés patrimonial de la provincia, se emprende la valoración de estos elementos hidrogeológicos utilizando una metodología basada en la desarrollada por el Área de Patrimonio Geológico y Minero del IGME para la elaboración del Inventario Español de Lugares de Interés Geológico (IELIG). La aplicación de esta metodología a nivel provincial constituye un paso conveniente de cara a facilitar su potencial inclusión futura en el IELIG.

  The province of Alicante has a rich and varied hydrogeological heritage, represented by numerous sites that are identified in studies and previous publications. However, their joint and homogeneous assessment was not addressed until 2012, when the Geological Survey of Spain (IGME) and the Water Cycle Department of the Provincial Council of Alicante carry out the project Hydrogeological Heritage of the province of Alicante (IGME-DPA, 2014). In this project, which was born with the purpose of identifying the hydrogeological places of greater heritage interest of the province, it is undertaken the valuation of these hydrogeological elements using a methodology based on the one developed by IGME applied for the elaboration of the Spanish Inventory of Geosites (IELIG). The application of this methodology at the provincial level is a convenient step in order to facilitate its potential future inclusion in IELIG.
