Conocimiento sobre Bioética en estudiantes de Medicina de la Universidad Técnica de Manabí-Ecuador

    El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar el conocimiento sobre Bioética en los estudiantes de Medicina de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad Técnica de Manabí (UTM) en Ecuador. Este es un estudio no experimental, descriptivo y transversal. La muestra correspondió a 150 estudiantes de medicina matriculados en la asignatura Bioética, durante el periodo académico septiembre 2018-febrero 2019. Un total de 150 estudiantes constituyeron la muestra, en quienes se investigó la edad, el sexo y la afilición religiosa. Se buscó información sobre la asignatura Bioética incluida en el pensum de estudios de la carrera de medicina. Los resultados obtenidos muestran un déficit en el conocimiento sobre Bioética en los estudiantes de la Carrera de Medicina, así como un déficit en la enseñanza de esta asignatura en la UTM. Es recomendable mejorar el proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje sobre esta asignatura, considerando el uso de nuevas herramientas con el fin de lograr cambios significativos en el aprendizaje de los futuros profesionales, ya que los principios de la bioética y la solidaridad son un referente del accionar médico, en quien debe prevalecer el ser humano como centro de la profesión.

    The objective of this study is to determine the knowledge about Bioethics of the medical students of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Technical University of Manabí (UTM) in Ecuador. This is a non-experimental, descriptive and cross-sec-tional study. The sample corresponded to 150 medical students enrolled in the subject Bioethics, during the academic period September 2018-February 2019. A total of 150 students constituted the sample, in which age, sex and religious affiliation were investigated. We searched for information on the subject Bioethics included in the curriculum of studies of the medical career. The results obtained show a deficit in the knowledge about Bioethics in the students of the Medicine Career, as well as a deficit in the teaching of this subject in the UTM. It is advisable to improve the teaching-learning process on this subject, considering the use of new tools in order to achieve significant changes in the learning of future professionals, since the principles of bioethics and solidarity are a benchmark of medical action, in which the human being must prevail as the center of the profession.
