Resumen de Triaje hospitalario y extrahospitalario.

  El término triaje deriva de la palabra francesa “trier” cuyo significado es escoger, separar o clasificar. Es un elemento determinante tanto para la atención del paciente como para la gestión del servicio de urgencias; mejora la dinámica de trabajo de los profesionales y la gestión de los recursos disponibles.

  Objetivo: Conocer los distintos métodos de triaje y las prioridades de asistencia.

  Metodología: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sobre los distintos métodos de triaje. Para ello se utilizaron bases de datos científicas.

  Conclusiones: El triaje es una herramienta fundamental para la clasificación de pacientes, tanto a nivel de urgencias hospitalarias sino también a nivel de extrahospitalaria. Existen diferentes sistemas, siendo los más empleados el Sistema de Triaje Español (SET) y Sistema Manchester (MST). En los servicios de urgencias extrahospitalarias los más empleados son el SHORT y START.

  The term triage derives from the French word “trier” which means to choose, separate or classify. It is a determining element in both patient care and emergency department management; it improves the work dynamics of professionals and the management of available resources.

  Objective: To understand the different triage methods and priorities for care.

  Methodology: A literature review was carried out on the different triage methods. Scientific databases were used for this purpose.

  Conclusions: Triage is a fundamental tool for the classification of patients, both at the hospital emergency level and also at the out-of-hospital level. Different systems exist, the most widely used being the Spanish Triage System (SET) and the Manchester System (MST). In out-of-hospital emergency departments, the most commonly used are SHORT and START.
