    Las rectorragias consisten en la expulsión de sangre por el ano y/o recto, cuya procedencia puede ser por un problema en el tracto digestivo inferior cuya sangre será visible y roja o del tracto digestivo superior dando lugar a heces melénicas. Es importante una rápida exploración, principalmente de las constantes vitales por si hubiera compromiso hemodinámico. La principal prueba diagnóstica y que, a su vez, proporciona el tratamiento contra este tipo de hemorragia es la endoscopia, pero no en todas las situaciones se puede utilizar.

    Rectal bleeding is the expulsion of blood from the anus, which may be caused by a problem in the lower digestive tract, where blood will be visible and red, or from the upper digestive tract, giving rise to melaena faeces. A quick examination is important, especially of the vital signs in case of haemodynamic compromise. The main diagnostic test, which in turn provides treatment for this type of haemorrhage, is endoscopy, but it cannot be used in all situations.
