Resumen de Geodiversidad: cuantificación y distribución en la provincia de Segovia

La geodiversidad es una propiedad de cualquier territorio, y tratar de cuantificarla y de representar su distribución se hace vital de cara a incluirla en estudios de ordenación del territorio, de gestión de espacios naturales o simplemente como complemento en estudios del patrimonio geológico. Este trabajo propone un método de cuantificación y de representación de la geodiversidad sobre el territorio y analiza su efectividad en la provincia de Segovia. Aunque en este estudio se ha analizado la variedad litoestratigráfica, la sencillez buscada para el método trata de facilitar la inclusión de tantos atributos como se necesite, atributos que definen lo que en realidad es una propiedad compleja: la geodiversidad. La suma del análisis de estos atributos da como resultado un mapa de geodiversidad intrínseca y otro de grado de fragmentación, los cuales pueden relacionarse para cuantificar la geodiversidad y analizar sus patrones de distribución. Los resultados obtenidos, a pesar de usar sólo unidades litoestratigráficas, representan adecuadamente la geodiversidad, su distribución y su relación con el patrimonio geológico.

Geodiversity is a characteristic of every territory, therefore trying to quantify it and representing its distribution becomes vital for its inclusion in land management studies, management of natural areas, or simply as an addition to geological heritage studies. This paper proposes a method of quantification and representation of the geodiversity over the territory as analyzes its effectiveness in the province of Segovia. Despite that only the lithostratigraphic variety has been analyzed in this study, the simplicity of the method tries to facilitate the incorporation of as many attributes as needed; attributes that define which certainly is a complex characteristic: the geodiversity. The analysis of the addition of these attributes will result in a map of intrinsic geodiversity and in a degree of fragmentation map, which can be correlated in order to quantify geodiversity and analyze its distribution patterns. The results, in spite of using lithostratigraphic units alone, effectively represent geodiversity, its distribution and its relation to the geological heritage.
