Resumen de El patrimonio geológico–minero de las canteras del Valle de Lastur: Un valor sustancial en el geoparque de la costa vasca

  El presente trabajo muestra las sinergias y las posibilidades de colaboración existentes entre la cantera de calizas ornamentales de Lastur y el Geoparque de la Costa Vasca. El geoparque, que entró a formar parte de la Red Europea (EGN) y global (GGN) en el año 2010, es internacionalmente conocido por la sección de tipo flysch de la costa y sus excelentes afloramientos del límite K/Pg y P/E, así como los dos estratotipos globales del Paleoceno. La cantera de Lastur, situada en el interior del geoparque, representa una excelente oportunidad para vincular la geología del territorio con la cultura y la tradición popular, y debido a su vistosidad, puede representar un elemento de atracción para mover flujos de visitantes hacia el interior del territorio y promover así desarrollo local más equilibrado. Al mismo tiempo, estas iniciativas fomentan también un marco de colaboración público privada beneficioso para ambas partes.

  This communication shows the synergies and possibilities of collaboration between the quarry of Lastur, where ornamental limestone is worked, and the Basque Coast Global Geopark. This geopark got into the European (EGN) and Global Geoparks network (GGN) in 2010 and it is internationally known due to the flysch outcrop of the coastline, where excellent outcrops of the K/PG and P/E boundaries and the paleocene GSSPs can be found. The quarry of Lastur is located inland and represents an excellent opportunity to link geology, culture and local traditions. Due to its spectacular nature, this quarry could also be an interesting point to direct visitors to the interior of the geopark that would lead to a better local development. At the same time, all this initiatives of collaboration encourage an interesting and self -beneficial context for public and private collaboration.
