La lengua italiana empieza a difundirse en la educación española en una época relativamente cercana gracias tanto a periodos de cambios que se estaban produciendo en España como a influencias a nivel político-culturales y espirituales ejercidas entre Italia y España en los siglos xix y xx. A partir de un breve enfoque histórico sobre las etapas más importantes relativas a las relaciones entre Italia y España de los siglos xix y xx y a través de un análisis de varios datos, se intenta dilucidar por qué, en la actualidad, la difusión del italiano en la educación española no es homogénea en todas las comunidades autónomas.

The Italian language starts spreading in the Spanish educational system during the last few years due to a period of changes occurring in the country and several political, cultural and spiritual influences between Italy and Spain in both the 20th and the 21st centuries. On the basis of a historical approach over the most important stages related to the relationship between Italy and Spain in these centuries and through a thorough analysis, it will be clarified why the spread of the Italian language is not consistent nowadays in every part of Spain.
