    La peculiar idiosincrasia que ha caracterizado la visión del Reino Unido respecto a Europa ha marcado la relación de la nación insular europea respecto al continente durante siglos, a la vez que ha imprimido un ADN en la política y la sociedad británicas, enfatizado, desde el surgimiento del proyecto europeo hasta el Brexit. Londres y su participación divergente han marcado la evolución de la relación entre el Reino Unido y la Unión Europea hasta la salida del país insular del proyecto europeo. Ahora, la unión continental se enfrenta al reto de la competitividad mundial con un nuevo rival junto a sus fronteras, con el que nunca terminó de compartir ni los intereses ni remó en la misma dirección que el resto de países del continente que conforman la Unión Europea.

    The particular and unique idiosyncrasy that has characterized United Kingdom vision of the regarding Europe has marked the relationship of the island nation with the continent for centuries, while it has sculpted a unique DNA in British politics and society, especially, since the emergence of the European project until Brexit. London and its divergent participation have marked the evolution of the relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union until the country left the European project. Now the continental union faces the challenge of global competitiveness with a new competitor next to its borders, which never finished sharing a common interest or even rowed in the same direction as the rest of the countries of the continent belonging to the European Union.
