    Entre los días 20 y 22 de abril de este año, se celebró la segunda parte de la 25.ª Conferencia de los Estados Partes de la Convención para la Prohibición de Armas Químicas (CAQ).

    En esta conferencia se tomaron importantes decisiones, con unas consecuencias muy relevantes desde el punto de vista geopolítico. Una de ellas hace referencia a la retirada de los derechos y privilegios de Siria dentro de la Organización para la Prohibición de Armas Químicas (OPAQ), que es la organización encargada de velar por el cumplimiento de los requisitos de la CAQ. Se trata de una decisión sin precedentes, que viene a resaltar el compromiso firme de la OPAQ de eliminar el uso de armas químicas por cualquier actor, bajo cualquier circunstancia, en cualquier lugar.

    Between April 20th and 22nd of this year, the second part of the 25th Conference of the States Parties to the Convention for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (CWC) was held.

    Important decisions were made at this conference with very relevant consequences from a geopolitical point of view. One of them refers to the withdrawal of the rights and privileges of Syria within the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which is the organization in charge of ensuring compliance with the requirements of the CWC. This is an unprecedented decision, which underscores the commitment of the OPCW to eliminate the use of chemical weapons by any actor, under any circumstance, anywhere.
