(In)satisfação da imagem corporal em acadêmicas de educação física e diferentes áreas da saúde

    Introduction: Currently the excessive search for the perfect body has been spreading and making this aspiration a risk factor for physical, mental, and social health of individuals, in this context the university students are not exempt. Objective: To compare the perception of body image in physical education students with academics from different health areas. Materials and Methods: Descriptive study with 192 female students of the bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and health area with age 21.85 ±4.63 from the city of Teresina-PI. Scales of female silhouettes validated by Kanno (2009) were used. In the statistical analysis, the free PSPP and R.A. softwares were used, the chi-square test was used to evaluate whether body dissatisfaction is associated with the areas of the courses studied. Results: In the discrepancy, the academics in the health area were moderately more dissatisfied, while the physical education students showed high and pathologically discrepant dissatisfaction. In the perception of the Real Image (IR), there was a higher predominance of eutrophy in the group of students in the health area, while in Physical Education they were perceived with silhouettes of hypertrophy, eutrophy and obesity, but in the Ideal Image (II) the group of physical education students idealized hypertrophied silhouettes and health students were divided between hypertrophy and eutrophy. Conclusion: Physical education students presented a higher percentage of body dissatisfaction in relation to students from other health areas.

    Introdução: Atualmente a busca excessiva pelo corpo perfeito vem se alastrando e tornando essa aspiração um fator de risco para saúde física, mental e social dos indivíduos, neste contexto as universitárias não estão isentas. Objetivo: Comparar a percepção da imagem corporal em acadêmicas de Educação Física com acadêmicas de diferentes áreas da saúde. Materiais e Métodos: Estudo descritivo com 192 acadêmicas do sexo feminino do curso de Bacharelado em Educação Física e da área de saúde com idade 21,85 ±4,63 da cidade de Teresina-PI. Utilizaram-se escalas de silhuetas femininas validada por Kanno (2009). Na análise estatística foram utilizados os softwares gratuitos PSPP e o R.A, o teste do qui-quadrado foi empregado para avaliar se a insatisfação com o corpo está associada às áreas dos cursos pesquisados. Resultados: Na discrepância as acadêmicas da área da saúde mostraram-se medianamente mais insatisfeitas, enquanto, as acadêmicas de Educação Física, manifestaram insatisfação elevada e patologicamente discrepante. Na percepção da Imagem Real (IR), houve maior predominância de eutrofia no grupo das estudantes da área da saúde, enquanto, na Educação Física estas se perceberam com silhuetas de hipertrofia, eutrofia e obesidade, porém na Imagem Ideal (II) o grupo das acadêmicas da área de Educação Física idealizaram silhuetas hipertrofiadas e as acadêmicas da área da saúde se dividiram entre hipertrofia e eutrofia. Conclusão: As acadêmicas de educação física apresentaram um maior percentual de insatisfação corporal em relação às estudantes das demais áreas da saúde.
