  No presente artigo pretendemos dar a conhecer os resultados de uma abordagem multidisciplinar sobre o estudo da Judiaria da Guarda em época medieval. A referência mais antiga da presença judaica na cidade da Guarda remonta a 1295. Desde esta data até à expulsão/conversão dos judeus em 1496 são numerosos os documentos referente à comunidade judaica, ao urbanismo da judiaria e inclusivamente à sua sinagoga. Este facto leva a que a judiaria da Guarda seja das mais bem documentadas na região centro e consequentemente tenha atraído diferentes investigadores. Não obstante a elevada qualidade científica da grande maioria dainvestigação realizada, por vezes, a falta de abordagens com disciplinas complementares tem levado a um conhecimento deficitário ou à perpetuação de linhas historiográficas erróneas, nomeadamente a correlação entre marcas cruciformes e presença judaica. Através da conjugação de revisão bibliográfica e das intervenções arqueológicas, de estudos de urbanismo e de novos contributos arquivísticos é-nos agora possível uma melhor compreensão deste espaço urbano, a desmistificação de certas linhas historiográficas e o estabelecimento de futuras linhas de investigação no que concerne ao conhecimento da presença e quotidianos judaicos na cidade da Guarda.

  In this paper we present the results of a multidisciplinary approach on the study of the Jewish quarter of Guarda in Medieval Times. The earliest reference to the Jewish presence in the city of Guarda dates back to 1295. From this date until the expulsion / conversion of the Jews in 1496 there are numerous documents relating to the Jewish community, Jewish urbanism and even its synagogue. This fact makes that the Jewish quarter of Guarda is one of the best documented in the Portuguese center region and consequently has attracted different investigators. In spite of the high scientific quality of the vast majority of research, sometimes the lack of approaches with complementary disciplines has led to a lack of knowledge or to the perpetuation of erroneous historiographical lines, namely the correlation between cruciform marks and the Jewish presence. Through the combination of bibliographical review and archaeological interventions, urbanism studies and new archival contributions, a better understanding of this urban space is now possible, the demystification of certain historiographical lines and the establishment of future research lines with regard to the knowledge of Jewish presence and daily life in the city of Guarda.
