Este texto discute los problemas que surgen entre los investigadores y las asociaciones religiosas que estudian, desde el punto de vista de los factores éticos que están implicados en esta interacción. El artículo se centra en tres contextos específicos en los cuales la cuestión ética se vuelve importante: 1) donde el investigador finge ser un con-verso para obtener información, 2) cuando el investigador aparece como experto ante los medios de comunicación y opina sobre sus sujetos de estudio, 3) cuando el investigador descubre abusos de derechos humanos en los grupos que estudia

This paper looks into the ethical issues that arise on the relationship between the researcher and the religious associations. The article focuses on three special contexts where ethical aspects become important. First of all, when the researcher pretends to become a convert in order to obtain information. Then, when the researcher appears as an expert in the presence of the mass media and gives opinions on his research subjects. Finally, when the research discovers human rights abuses on the groups he or she studies
