    La conquista de Andalucía por las tropas castellanas durante el siglo XIII supuso la incorporación de importantes núcleos urbanos a la Corona de Castilla y la creación de instituciones orientadas al gobierno local, cuya instauración supuso la adopción de elementos simbólicos y representativos de los diferentes concejos andaluces. La difusión del uso del sello diplomático y su función como garantía en la validación de los documentos coincidió con la erección de instituciones concejiles en los reinos andaluces. Los concejos diseñaron sus diferentes emblemas, pendones y sellos como instrumentos de representación y elementos identificativos de la institución municipal. Este trabajo trata de identificar y estudiar algunos de los sellos que estas instituciones crearon durante el siglo XIII, analizando su carácter simbólico como representación de la ciudad, así como su función jurídica y diplomática.

    The conquest of Andalusia by the Castilian troops during the 13th century supposed the incorporation of important urban centers to the Crown of Castile and the creation of institutions oriented to the local government, whose establishment supposed the adoption of symbolic and representative elements of the different Andalusian councils. The dissemination of the use of the diplomatic seal and its function as a guarantee in the validation of documents coincided with the erection of council institutions in the Andalusian kingdoms. The councils designed their different emblems, banners and seals as instruments of representation and identifying elements of the municipal institution. This work tries to identify and study some of the seals that these institutions created during the 13th century, analyzing their symbolic character as a representation of the city, as well as their legal and diplomatic function.
