    La salud y las enfermedades siempre están presentes en el devenir histórico del ser humano. El año 2020 se ha presentado como uno extraordinario en la historia reciente de la humanidad con el desarrollo y propagación de la pandemia del coronavirus por todo el planeta. Puerto Rico no ha quedado exento de estos eventos. Excusa y necesidad por el Covid19, su impacto social nos obliga a realizar un acercamiento de las experiencias salubristas previas más relevantes en la historia del país para comprender el contexto puertorriqueño en sus alcances y limitaciones para lograr un control efectivo de la actual pandemia.

    Health and disease are always present in the historical evolution of the human being. The year 2020 has been presented as an extraordinary one in the recent history of humanity with the development and spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic throughout the planet. Puerto Rico has not been exempt from these events. Excuse and necessity for the Covid-19, its social impact forces us to make an approach of the previous health experiences most relevant in the history of the country to understand the Puerto Rican context in its scope and limitations to achieve effective control of the current pandemic.
