    En este trabajo se identifican y se caracterizan los poblados fortificados de la Edad del Hierro de la zona montañosa del oeste de Navarra recientemente catalogados. Para ello se han utilizado instrumentos de modelización espacial (SIG), analizando los recursos naturales y vías pecuarias y su relación con el entorno. Aunque estos poblados tienen características similares, basándose en las defensas y en los rasgos de su localización, se han podido establecer diferencias funcionales de los mismos, como por ejemplo, de cobijo, de centralidad de valle o agropecuarias.

    In this paper we will analyse, the location and the characteristics of the recently inventoried hill forts of the Pyrenees of Navarre, by space modelling tools (GIS), studying the relations with their environment and with elements like cattle routes and natural resources. Usually this hill forts are similar, but analysing their defences and their characteristics we are able to suggest different functions as centrality in their basins, protection purposes or farmhouse functions
