Geomatic techniques have been routinely applied in recent years in geomorphological studies worldwide. This study uses the combination of the metric information offered by an image based technique (close range photogrammetry with a reflex digital camera) and a high performance spatial data capture method (Terrestrial Laser Scanner, TLS). By comparing different point clouds of the same area, obtained at different moments, variations in the terrain and temporal dynamics can be analyzed. The aim of this study is to apply two geomatic techniques (photogrammetry and TLS) to evaluate geomorphological processes (erosion and deposition) in a badland area. Results show that both methods provide new opportunities in geomorphological studies.
