Resumen de Aproximación a la tasa de crecimiento de líquenes del grupo Rhizocarpon geographicum, en los Alpes Berneses orientales

The measurement of 93 lichen thalli belonging to the species Rhizocarpon macrosporum Räs. and Rhizocarpon geographicum ssp. frigidum (Räs.) Hertel on dated surfaces in the Upper Hasli Valley (Switzerland) provides data for the construction of a growth function that will be used for the dating of debris-flow deposits. The obtained results point to linear growth functions with rates of 0,52 mm yr-1 (R. macrosporum) and 0,46 mm yr-1 (R.geographicum subsp. frigidum) during the period of maturity ('great period'). Due to the lack of lichens older than 109 years on calibrated surfaces, the function has been extrapolated following the growth rates of R. geographicum developed on glacier moraines in Norway under similar ecological conditions.
