    The enigmatic specimen of Orthochirus Karsch, 1891 reported almost 70 years ago by Vachon from Aguelhok (Aguel’hoc), in the former ‘Afrique occidentale française’ (now in Mali), has been studied, and its taxonomic status can now be clarified. It actually belongs to a new species, here described, and is the basis for the first confirmed record of this genus from Mali
