    The article seeks to highlight the normative and technical activity of the International Labor Organization, taking stock of the first hundred years of its existence, as well as tracing perspectives for the future, specifically in the maritime transport sector. It reviews the first hundred years of ILO policy making to implement the decent work agenda in the shipping industry, culminating in the adoption of the 2006 Maritime Labor Convention. At the same time, it presents the Organization’s challenge to the future of maritime work, given the possible scenario of job losses due to the introduction of autonomous vessels.

    O artigo busca ressaltar a atividade normativa e técnica da Organização Internacional do Trabalho, fazendo um balanço dos primeiros cem anos de sua existência, bem como traçando perspectivas para o futuro, especificamente no setor do transporte marítimo. Faz uma análise dos primeiros cem anos da atividade normativa da OIT no sentido de implementar a agenda do trabalho decente na indústria da navegação, culminando com a adoção da Convenção sobre o Trabalho Marítimo de 2006. Ao mesmo tempo, apresenta o desafio da Organização para com o futuro do trabalho marítimo, diante do cenário possível de diminuição dos postos de trabalho diante da introdução dos navios autônomos.
