    La población San Miguel es un claro ejemplo de patrimonio cotidiano, pero con la particularidad de que éste se encuentra expresado en el patrimonio construido. Los murales que componen el museo, encarnación del patrimonio cotidiano, fueron, y son activamente realizados, sobre los muros ciegos de los bloques de vivienda que componen la población. Justamente esta población expresa muy bien las implicancias de esto, en la situación de abandono, asociación a drogas y deterioro general en que se vio inmerso tras la dictadura y durante la vuelta a la democracia del país, empezó a ser abandonada por sus habitantes originales, y parecía condenada a ser reemplazada por algún proyecto de las inmobiliarias que invaden la comuna de San Miguel. Sin embargo, al aparecer los murales, que tienen como trasfondo la identidad local, se reivindica el patrimonio construido y se resignifica así a la población, que se ha vuelto motivo de orgullo.

    The San Miguel village is a clear example of daily heritage, but with the particularity that it is expressed in the built heritage. The murals that make up the museum, the embodiment of everyday heritage, were, and are actively made, on the blind walls of the housing blocks that make up the village. Precisely this population expresses very well the implications of this, in the situation of abandonment, association with drugs and general deterioration in which it was immersed after the dictatorship and during the return to democracy of the country, it began to be abandoned by its original inhabitants, and seemed condemned to be replaced by some project of the real estate companies that invade the commune of San Miguel. However, when the murals appear, which have as a background the local identity, the built heritage is vindicated and thus resignified to the population, which has become a source of pride.
