Resumen de Torrequemada y el castillo de Torres: fragua y articulación del territorio de conquista hospitalario en ámbitos de 'La Contienda'

A mediados del siglo XIII el territorio de conquista hospitalario en la actual provincia de Huelva se articulaba entre las riveras del Múrtiga y del Chanza. Los extremos de sus frentes de incursión sobre los dominios andalusíes se encontraban jalonados por las fortificaciones fronteras de Aracena y Torres. En este espacio geográfico las vanguardias lusas convergieron con las castellanas, apoyadas en lanzas por freires templarios y santiaguistas. La corona portuguesa auspició un programa constructivo destinado a afianzar las conquistas territoriales. Las fortalezas hospitalarias de Torres y Torrequemada disponían de un amplio control visual sobre las riberas del Múrtiga y del Murtigón en tierras de «La Contienda», materializando un control estratégico sobre el territorio histórico. Los estudios geoespaciales abordados han permitido la reconstrucción de las interacciones visuales entre las fortalezas y el territorio integrado en este paisaje fortificado

In the middle of the 13th century the territory of hospital conquest was articulated betwen the riversides of the Murtiga and of the Chanza. The ends of their fronts of incursión over de andalusian dominion were marked out by the frontier fortifications of Aracena ad Torres. In this geographic space the Portuguese vanguard hots converged with the Castilian ones. The crown of Portugal supported the construction of fortresses to consolidate the territorial conquests. Torres and Torrequemada hospital fortresses had a wide visual control over the banks of Murtiga and Murtigon in the lands of «La Contienda», materializing a strategic control over the historic territory. The geospatial studies undertaken allowed the reconstruction of the visual interactions between the fortresses ad the integrated territory in this fortified landscape.
