This paper tackles the diffi cult and often aporetic relation between place and space in late Heidegger, taking the works following Sein und Zeit. We understand space as spacing, understood from the open and therefore from the Clearing as un-concealment of truth in a place. The place of unconcealment is thereby defined as the work of art, which Heidegger defi nes as “poem.” In this sense, we suggest that place constitutes a dimension of language, and therefore space must be understood as the linguistic making-room for human dwelling, even if place as space of language turns out to be an impossible place.
