  El presente trabajo explora las distintas quiebras que ha sufrido el concepto de representación en el pasado siglo. Esta noción ha sido confrontada con sus límites desde los distintos impulsos vanguardistas del siglo xx. Las vanguardias históricas perfilan la salida del agotamiento del canon naturalista en el arco que dibuja la polaridad palabraespectáculo. La neovanguardia de los sesenta y los setenta impone una nueva vuelta de tuerca: la reacción contra el pensamiento racional e intelectualizado de la modernidad y el arte mimético burgués conducen a una nueva afirmación de la realidad fenomenológica no representacional de la escena. Una nueva crisis de la noción de representación hará emerger a finales de siglo el concepto de lo posdramático. Si las vanguardias históricas ya ensayaron ciertas propuestas performativas y la neovanguardia del independiente impulsó el paso del concepto de representación al de presentación, la irrupción del teatro posdramático supone una nueva y más drástica quiebra de dicho concepto.

  The present works explores the different break-downs which the concept of representation has suffered in the last century. This notion has been confronted with its limits from the different avant-garde movements of the 20th century. The historical avantgarde shows the exit of the depletion of the naturalist canon in the arch drawn by the word-spectacle opposition. The new avant-garde of the 60s and 70s brings a new wrinkle: the reaction to the rational and intellectualized thought of the modernity and the mimetic bourgeois art drive a new assertion of the phenomenology not representational of the stage. A new crisis of the notion of representation will make emerge the concept of postdramatic at the turn of the century. If the historical avant-garde rehearsed certain performative proposals and the new-avant-garde of Teatro Independiente drove the move away from the concept of representation to the notion of presentation, the emergence of post-dramatic theatre supposes a new and more drastic rupture of this concept.
