    This article presents a study of the impact of vocational high schools on the experience of students who have had little choice concerning the course they entered. In particular, it focuses on the link between the schools’ climate, and the students’ risk of dropping out. 376 people were surveyed, three to five years after receiving career guidance at the age of 15. Obtained using three models of analysis, the results of this study not only confirm the strong correlation between imposed educational pathways and dropping out, but also show that the high school climate can have an impact on that link, as well as on the young people’s experience of this imposed educational pathway.

    Cet article propose d’étudier l’effet de lycées professionnels d’accueil sur l’expérience de jeunes en orientation contrainte, en particulier le lien entre le climat de ces établissements et le risque de décrochage scolaire de ces jeunes. Une enquête par questionnaire a été menée auprès de 376 individus, trois à cinq ans après leur orientation de fin de troisième. À travers trois modèles d’analyse, les résultats de l’enquête confirment la corrélation importante entre orientation contrainte et décrochage scolaire, tout en soulignant que le climat du lycée d’accueil peut influer sur ce lien, ainsi que sur le vécu par les jeunes de cette orientation contrainte.
