    En un estudio de acciones colectivas concebidas como participación autónoma en una zona particular de la periferia urbana de Montevideo, Uruguay, se intenta visibilizar la acción política desplegada en el territorio, por fuera de marcos institucionales (partidarios, estatales, sindicales). Se investigó cuatro experiencias diversas en la zona del Cerro. El objetivo fue comprender los sentidos que estos colectivos construyen en torno a sus acciones, a sus vínculos con agentes estatales y sus estrategias para construir autonomía. Se utilizó una investigación cualitativa, mediante entrevistas en profundidad a los colectivos, y observaciones participantes. Se realizó análisis de contenido temático y una fase en la que se convocó a los colectivos para producir un análisis final conjunto. Los resultados se analizaron en distintos ejes. En este artículo se presentan brevemente los referidos a: la nominación de sus prácticas y su concepción como acción política; dinámica horizontal y de redes, la multiplicidad y fluidez en la integración; y distintos vínculos con el Estado (desde la protesta como único vínculo a la búsqueda de sinergia en las acciones). En la discusión se señala la importancia de recientes redefiniciones de la noción de comunidad y se esbozan pistas para repensar términos como “agente externa” y “participación”.

    An study of collective action conceived as autonomous participation in a particular area of the urban periphery of Montevideo, Uruguay, it is intended to make visible the political action deployed in the territory, outside of institutional frameworks (partisan, state, union). Four diverse experiences in the Cerro area were studied. The objective was to understand the meaning that these groups build around their actions, their links with state agents and their strategies to build autonomy. A qualitative research was used, through in-depth interviews with the groups and participants’ observations. Thematic content analysis and a phase in which the groups were convened to produce a final joint analysis were carried out. The results were analyzed in different axes. The article briefly presents those related to: the nomination of their practices and their conception as political action; horizontal and network dynamics, multiplicity and fluidity in integration; and different links with the State (from the protest as the only link to the search for synergy in actions). In the discussion, the importance of recent redefinitions of the notion of community is pointed out and clues are outlined to rethink terms such as "external agent" and "participation"
