    La llegada de inmigrantes gitanos caló a la Argentina, procedentes de España en diferentes momentos de la historia, es un hecho constatado. A lo largo del tiempo, los romaníes se han instalado en diferentes partes del país desarrollando sus formas de vida y moldeado su identidad debido a la inmigración. Sin embargo, conscientes de su pasado y la trayectoria biográfica de sus familias, la relación con el país de origen y el país receptor ha estado en el centro de su etnogénesis en Buenos Aires. Además de la influencia de la cultura argentina, las diferencias en la obtención de sustento o las políticas respecto a esta etnia, el espacio ha jugado un papel crucial en la forma que tienen los gitanos de sentirse argentinos o españoles.

    The arrival of Gypsy immigrants from Spain to Argentina at different times in history is a proven fact. Through time, the Roma have settled in different parts of the country developing their ways of life and shaping their identity because of the immigration. However, aware of their past and the biographies of their families, the relationship with the country of origin and the host country has been at the center of their ethnogenesis in Buenos Aires. In addition to the influence of Argentine culture, the differences in the means of sustenance or the ethnic policies, space has played a crucial role in the way gypsies feel Argentine or Spanish.
