Resumen de Fé e Política: Pensar a relação a partir de Filipenses

This article deals with the relationship between faith and politics, based on the current Brazilian situation, through an analysis of two passages of Paul’s letter to the Philippians (1,27-30 and 3,17-4,1). In this letter are found the only two occurrences of words from the roots of Paul’s political writings – the verb politeuomai and the noun politeuma – both of which refer primarily to the scope of public life of the Greek polis. Both the verb and, especially, the noun are used as technical terms, but also as popular terms, and Paul takes advantage of the polysemy of the root to present his way of thinking about the relationship between faith and politics in the daily lives of the people who follow to the Lord Jesus. Paul’s thesis is that the public life of Christian people should be lived in accordance with the habit of Messiah Jesus (Phil 2: 6-11), which emptying and solidarity with sinners until the death of the cross, sets the standard for the messianic existence – or the public and private Christian habit.

Este artigo trata da relação entre fé e política, pensada a partir da situação brasileira atual, mediante uma análise de duas perícopes da carta de Paulo aos Filipenses (1,27-30 e 3,17-4,1). Nesta carta encontram-se as duas únicas ocorrências de palavras da raiz polit- nos escritos paulinos – o verbo politeuomai e o substantivo politeuma – que se refere primariamente ao âmbito da vida pública da polis grega. Tanto o verbo como, e especialmente, o substantivo são usados como termos técnicos, mas também como termos populares, e Paulo tira proveito da polissemia da raiz para apresentar o seu modo de pensar a relação entre fé e política na vida cotidiana das pessoas que seguem ao Senhor Jesus. A tese de Paulo é que a vida pública das pessoas cristãs deve ser vivida em conformidade com o hábito do Messias Jesus (Fp 2,6-11), cujo esvaziamento e solidariedade com os pecadores até a morte de cruz, estabelece o padrão para a existência messiânica – ou o hábito cristão público e privado.
