En el siguiente artículo analizaremos ciertas coplas del poemario Cante hondo de Manuel Machado, que consiguen expresar, cada una a su manera, la complejidad que entraña el concepto de la Pena andaluza. Por ello incluimos algunos párrafos introductorios, donde intentamos esbozar el sentido antitético de la Pena andaluza, con la intención de que el lector -antes de acercarse al análisis de las coplas- adquiera ciertas nociones sobre los diversos significados de la Pena, de tal suerte que pueda enriquecer su lectura de este poemario. A su vez hemos intentado esbozar, también a manera de introducción, algunas ideas en torno a la problemática de la poesía culta y la poesía popular, donde además se plantea el tema de la emoción en el arte

In the following article we will analyze certain couplets of the poem Cantehondo by Manuel Machado, which manage to express, each one in its own way, the complexity of the concept of the Andalusian Sorrow. For this reason, we include some introductory paragraphs, where we try to outline the antithetical meaning of the Andalusian Sorrow, with the intention that the reader -before approaching the analysis of the couplets- acquires certain notions about the diverse meanings of the Sorrow, in such a way that he can enrich his reading of this collection of poems. At the same time, we have tried to outline, also as an introduction, some ideas about the problematic of cultured poetry and popular poetry, where the subject of emotion in art is also raised
