Devotees, Wannabes y Pretenders: parafilias vinculadas a la discapacidad

    Con el desarrollo de internet se ha ido haciendo evidente la vinculación entre discapacidad y sexualidad, en la que las designaciones “devotees”, “pretedenders” y “wannabes” (DPW) juegan un rol central. Los devotees son individuos sanos que se sienten atraídos sexualmente haciapersonas con discapacidad, generalmente con problemas de movilidad. Los pretenders son personas que actúan como si tuvieran una discapacidad imitando sus movimientos, usando muletas, sillas de ruedas, escayolas, etc. Por último, los wannabes desean ser discapacitados, algunos de ellos han llegado al extremo de hacerse amputaciones caseras cuando la medicina tradicional se ha negado a dar respuesta a su necesidad. La presente investigación documental indaga sobre cada uno de los miembros de la taxonomía D P W, presentando: a) las hipótesis existentes con relación a su etiología; b) su vinculación con otras entidades diagnósticas presentes en el DSM V; c) se describen algunos de los tratamientos que se han empleado en su abordaje terapéutico, y d) se mencionan las interrelaciones entre estas 3 categorías, dado que los limites entre ellas son muy flexibles.

    With the development of the internet, the link between disability and sexuality has become evident, in which the designations "devotees", "pretedenders" and "wannabes" (DPW) play a central role. Devotees are healthy individuals who are sexually attracted to people with disabilities, usually with mobility problems. The pretenders are people who act as if they have a disability imitating their movements, using crutches, wheelchairs, plasters, etc. Finally, wannabes wish to be disabled, some of them have gone so far as to have homemade amputations when traditional medicine has refused to respond to their need. The present documentary research investigates each of the members of the DPW taxonomy, presenting: a) the existing hypotheses regarding their etiology; B) its relationship with other diagnostic entities present in DSM V; C) describe some of the treatments that have been used in its therapeutic approach, and d) the interrelations between these 3 categories are mentioned, since the boundaries between them are very flexible.
