The historic reality increasingly explains itself as multiple and fortuitous, instead of susceptible of being classified in universal theoretical concepts. It is in this sense that the presence of identities and representations which before were not perceivable or that academically were not considerable, becomes outstanding. Under this perspective, in the last decades of the 20thcentury and in the firsts years of the 21stcentury, the historical discourses about the State-nation and the cultural practices, for example, were theoretically reviewed, and thus, other identities and other representations gained ground in the disciplinary knowledge, which in this case is mainly the History's, that is, the one of the State-nation that is not unique anymore, and the one of the cultural practices that are post-colonial and hybrids

Cada vez mais a realidade histórica explicita-se como múltipla e aleatória, não mais passível de enquadramento em conceitos teóricos universais. É nesse sentido que se torna marcante a presença de identidades e de representações que antes não se faziam notar ou que academicamente não eram consideradas. Nesta perspectiva, nas últimas décadas do século XX e nos primeiros anos do século XXI, os discursos históricos sobre o Estado-nação e as práticas culturais, por exemplo, foram teoricamente revistos e, com isso, outras identidades e outras representações tiveram espaço no saber disciplinar, que nesse caso é principalmente o da História, qual seja, a do Estado-nação que não é mais uno e a das práticas culturais que são pós-coloniais e híbridas.
