Se debe mantener metabólicamente óptima a la paciente antes de someterla a tratamientos de reproducción no sólo porque mejora las condiciones para el embarazo, sino que además permitirá disminuir la morbimortalidad perinatal y materna. Por ello es importante recomendar tratamientos cuando la paciente tenga un índice de masa corporal siempre menos de 30kg/ m2 e ideal si está entre rango de 20 y 25; asimismo, que su insulina esté por debajo de 10mU/ml, TSH menor de 2,5mU/L y prolactina entre 5 a 15 ng/ml.
