Resumen de Weichafe: El ideal del «guerrero bárbaro» frente a las armas de fuego

  El presente artículo tratará de analizar el impacto, utilización y masificación de las armas de fuego en la cultura mapuche de los siglos xvi y xvii, centrándose en su casta guerrera, los llamados weichafes. Esta élite brilló por su manejo de las armas y tuvo la oportunidad de enfrentarse cara a cara con la modernidad personificada en las armas a pólvora concebidas por Occidente, precisamente en el contexto de la Revolución Militar cuando los métodos europeos de hacer la guerra se extendieron y adoptaron alrededor del globo. Este estudio se realizará a través de la perspectiva que nos ofrece la historia militar y la investigación historiográfica, consistente en la revisión, clasificación y análisis de la documentación de la época y bibliografía especializada.

  本考察は、16世紀から17世紀にかけてのマプチェ文化における銃器の影響、使用、大量生産化について、「ヴァイチャフ」と呼ばれるエリート戦士に焦点を当てて分析したものである。このエリート集団は武器の扱いに優れており、ヨーロッパで考案された火薬兵器に象徴される近代性と正面から闘った。こうした戦いは、ヨーロッパの戦争方法が世界的に拡大・採用された軍事革命の中で起こったものである。従って、今回は文献分析にもとづき、軍事史の観点から考察を行っている。

  The following article will try to analyze the impact, use and massification of firearms in the mapuche culture of the 16th and 17th centuries focusing on their warrior caste called weichafes. This elite stood out for their weapons handling and for battling face-to-face the modernity personified in gunpowder weapons conceived by the West. These battles occurred in the context of the Military Revolution, when European methods of warfare were expanded and adopted globally. The analysis presented here will use a perspective of military history and historical methodology, based on the review, classification and analysis of historical documents and related bibliography.
