  Hag-seed, by Margaret Atwood is a rereading wrote as part of the Hogarth Shakespeare project and revisit Shakespeare’s The tempest. The present work aims at analyzing Atwood’s narrative targeting the making of Felix, the main character, chiefly structured by three emotions: the loss leading to isolation, vengeance as the thread that guides the narrative development and the liberation as an outcome of the understanding that losses are beyond repairing. Thus, the reasoning presented hereby put the aspect of vengeance under questioning as from it is depicted by Atwood, and taking into account the adaptation of the original work. In order to carry out the analysis we draw on the studies of Muñoz-Valdivieso (2017), Ghirardi (2015), Sanders (2006), Frye (1999), Bradley (1991), among others. It is worth highlighting that the writer’s narrative construction puts together the magical elements from the work it is inspired by alongside with contemporary context. Moreover, when reading Atwood, one can observe the crafting of vengeance related to the protagonist’s losses and his urge for liberation, asserting, still, Felix’s persuasion over the others.

  Semente de Bruxa, de Margaret Atwood, é uma releitura construída no âmbito do projeto Hogarth Shakespeare, e retoma a peça A Tempestade. Neste trabalho, pretende-se analisar esta obra de Atwood observando a construção do personagem Félix, marcado por três sentimentos: a perda que leva ao isolamento, a vingança como fio que conduz o desenvolvimento narrativo e a libertação resultante da compreensão de que as perdas jamais serão reparadas. Assim, problematiza-se o aspecto da vingança no enredo apresentado por Atwood, considerando a adaptação do enredo original da obra. Para as análises, utilizam-se como bases teóricas os estudos de Muñoz-Valdivieso (2017),Ghirardi (2015), Sanders (2006), Frye (1999), Bradley (1991), entre outros. Destaca-se que a construção narrativa da escritora une os elementos mágicos da obra que lhe serviu de inspiração ao contexto contemporâneo. Além disso, em Atwood é possível ver uma construção da vingança relacionada às perdas do protagonista e sua necessidade de libertação, afirmando, ainda, a persuasão de Félix sobre os demais personagens.
