When we think about the black presence in the History of Literature Gaúcha (FISCHER, 2004) we realize that it appears as a theme from the 1870s, the same decade in which a literary system in Rio Grande do Sul will emerge (CANDIDO, 1993). However, as a theme, the black is transcribed from the contempt and racist arrogance that still pervades the state. The black female body appears in the gaucho songbook from mulata as a desired and lascivious body (CÉSAR, 1971). Black authorship will only emerge from Oliveira Silveira (1941-2009) who debuts with the book of poems Germinou (1962). When we think of works written by black women in Rio Grande do Sul the list is filled out by contemporary authors and, even so, it is not possible to fill out a page. Thus, from the concept of African-Feminist literature (SANTIAGO, 2012), we will analyze some poems by Maria do Carmo dos Santos (1954-) published in Coisa de negro (1987) and in the collection Sopapo Poético: Pretessência (2016), the themes evoked by her are based on her escrevivência (EVARISTO, 2007) as a black woman in Rio Grande do Sul, as well as the process of blackness (BERND, 1984), conceived in this article as becoming black (SOUZA , 1983), rescuing the black ancestry (re) negate to the pages of the History of Rio Grande do Sul
