      The present study focuses on the team managers’ perception concerning the “Team Role Theory” by Meredith Belbin, which deals with the importance to identify individuals who present a pattern of adequate professional behavior, since, as long as the team is known, the results tend to be positive. The objective of this study was to analyze the perception of team managers concerning the “team role theory”. This is a quantitative research whose data were collected through a questionnaire sent via Google Forms, and whose link was sent to the managers of the 25 main car dealerships located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The data were statistically interpreted with the use of the SPSS Statistics software based on the ANOVA two-way test analysis and the Turkey test. The results showed that the managers researched agree with the statements presented by Belbin, and that understanding these statements depends more on the age of each manager than on the time of service in their position at work. They also consider the behaviors of the dimension concerning “task” as the most important ones, and that the individuals who are more committed to obtaining results are chosen over the others. Furthermore, it was possible to see how important it is for the managers to know their work team and see that the ideal team is the one which has all of Belbin’s profiles interacting harmoniously

      O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar a percepção de gestores de equipe em relação a “teoria do papel da equipe” de Meredith Belbin. Realizou-se uma pesquisa com gestores de equipes para compreender a percepção desses administradores sobre as afirmações mostradas por Belbin  acerca dos papéis da equipe e  entender o quão importante são para formação de um grupo de alto desempenho. O questionário foi elaborado e encaminhado pela plataforma do google forms e enviado seu link aos gerentes das 25 principais concessionárias de automóveis localizadas no estado do Rio Grande do Norte (RN). Como resultados obteve-se que os gestores pesquisados concordam com as afirmativas apresentadas por Belbin, sendo que a concordância com essas afirmativas depende mais da idade que do tempo de função como gerente. Os gestores consideram os comportamentos da dimensão “tarefa” mais importante e para compor sua equipe também buscam indivíduos mais comprometidos à obtenção de resultados.
