La supresión histórica de la mujer ha sido una constante que se ha extendido a las mas diversas áreas de estudio y las artes no son una excepción de ello. En el caso de la creación en música docta llega a tal punto de no estar incluída en ninguna temática de las mallas curriculares, por lo tanto es válido preguntarse ¿hay mujeres compositoras? Si hace poco se ha incluído unas pocas en la historia de la música de Europa, entonces la pregunta que surge a continuación es si hay en Latinoamérica y en Chile. El siguiente escrito busca responder, a través de diferentes fuentes, si hay mujeres componiendo y por qué no se les conoce.

The historical suppression of women has been a constant that has spread to the most diverse areas of study and the arts are no exception. In the case of creation in learned music, it reaches the point of not being included in any theme of the curricular networks, therefore it is valid to ask, are there women composers? If a few have recently been included in the history of European music, then the next question is whether there are in Latin America and Chile. The following writing seeks to answer, through different sources, if there are women composing and why they are not known
