    Hegel’s philosophy of art, even if indirectly, discusses the matter of the ornament within the development of the dialectics between Idea and sensible material contained in the Lectures on aesthetics. Two main moments can be mentioned in which the matter of ornamentation indirectly appears: within the context of the symbolic artform, in the second part of the aesthetics (which comprehends the artforms) where Hegel discusses a pre-art, which still does not express the spiritual beauty, serving only for ornamentation, as well as in the chapter for the architecture, not only within the symbolic artform, but also the classical and romantic forms, situated in the third part of the aesthetics (which comprehends the particular arts). Apart from these main points, based on the discussion regarding the symbol in Hegel aesthetics, it is also possible to present a brief comparison between the conception of symbol in the Lectures on Aesthetics and in the romanticism, especially in Schelling’s Philosophy of art.

    A filosofia da arte de Hegel, ainda que indiretamente, aborda a questão do ornamento dentro do âmbito do desenvolvimento da dialética entre Ideia e material sensível que norteia os Cursos de Estética. Pode-se mencionar dois momentos principais em que a questão da ornamentação indiretamente aparece: tanto durante o contexto da Forma de arte simbólica, na segunda parte da estética (a respeito das Formas de arte), onde ainda se fala em uma pré-arte, na medida em que ainda não há expressão do belo espiritual, sendo as manifestações artísticas destinadas apenas à ornamentação, bem como no capítulo da arquitetura, não apenas na Forma de arte simbólica, mas também nas clássica e romântica, presente na terceira parte da estética (a respeito das artes particulares). Para além desses pontos principais, com base na discussão a respeito da noção de símbolo na estética de Hegel, é possível também realizar uma breve comparação entre as concepções de símbolo em seus Cursos de Estética com a do romantismo, mais especificamente na figura de Schelling e sua Filosofia da arte.
