    En la última década, el terrorismo de carácter yihadista se ha consolidado como una de las mayores amenazas para la seguridad. Desde su epicentro en Afganistán, Irak y Siria, las principales facciones de la yihad global Al Qaeda y Daesh, así como su perversa ideología extremista y la violencia que la sustenta, se han proyectado y expandido mucho más allá de su territorio originario. En este contexto de descentralización, África —especialmente el Sahel Occidental y el Cuerno de África— se ha convertido en la zona del mundo donde más prolifera esta amenaza global, tanto por el número de ataques como de víctimas mortales. Europa, y a pesar del declive de los atentados desde 2018, se mantiene como objetivo prioritario del ideario yihadista. Solo desde un estudio holístico de la amenaza y de su contexto se podrán articular las respuestas más oportunas para acabar con el yihadismo global.

    In the last decade, jihadist terrorism has established itself as one of the greatest security threat. From their epicentre in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, the main factions of the global jihad: Al Qaeda and Daesh, as well as their perverse extremist ideology and the violence that sustains it, have projected and expanded far beyond their original territory. In this context of decentralization, Africa - especially the Western Sahel and the Horn of Africa - has become the most prolific area of the world for this global threat, both in terms of the number of attacks and the number of mortal victims. Despite the decline in attacks since 2018, Europe remains a priority target for jihadist ideology. Only through a holistic study of the threat and its context will it be possible to articulate the most appropriate responses to put an end to global jihadism.
