Resumen de Teósofas, masonas y feministas (Costa Rica, 1890-1923)

    Este trabajo se centra en el análisis de las mujeres que, en Costa Rica desde finales del siglo XIX y las primeras décadas del siglo XX, fueron teósofas, masonas y activistas en el movimiento de reivindicación de los derechos de las mujeres. En la primera parte se utiliza como criterio para identificarlas su participación, como fundadoras o miembros, en tres organizaciones: la Sociedad Teosófica de Costa Rica, la logia Saint Germain no. 621 y la Liga Feminista de Costa Rica. La segunda parte explora aspectos biográficos y los nexos sociales y políticos de estas activistas.

  This paper, presented in two parts, focuses on the analysis of women who, in Costa Rica, from the end of the 19th century to the first decades of the 20th century, were theosophists, freemasons and activists in the movement for the vindication of women’s rights. In the first part, their participation, as founders or members, in three organizations is used as a criterion to identify them: the Theosophical Society, the Saint Germain Lodge no. 621 and the Feminist League. The second part explores biographical aspects and the social and political ties of this activists.
