Resumen de El mito del complot antipatriótico y la Asociación Masónica Internacional (España, 1921-1975)

Este artículo estudia un leitmotiv de la propaganda antimasónica española: el que acusaba a la Asociación Masónica Internacional (AMI) de ser responsable de una conspiración antipatriótica. Tras presentar los orígenes del mito complotista y la realidad de la verdadera AMI, se realiza un recorrido cronológico por la utilización del tema en la prensa y la literatura de propaganda durante las décadas centrales del siglo XX (1921-1975). Asimismo, se presta una especial atención al rol que desempeñó el propio Francisco Franco en la estigmatización de la AMI.

This paper focuses on one of the leitmotivs of Spain’s anti-Masonic propaganda: the one which accused the International Masonic Association (IMA) of being responsible for an anti-patriotic conspiracy. After presenting the origins of the Masonic conspiracy myth and highlighting some facts about the real IMA, the use of this stereotype in the press and in propaganda books over the central decades of the 20th century (1921-75) will be examined chronologically. Furthermore, special attention will be paid to Franco’s actual role in the stigmatisation of the IMA.
