La protagonista del relato biográfico es discapacitada física por paresia total del brazo derecho secundario a poliomielitis y cuenta su vivencia con un dolor incapacitante de 8 meses de evolución que la hace dependiente total de otros para las actividades de la vida diaria. Nos relata cómo el dolor afecta a su cuerpo y a todos los aspectos de su persona y cómo se tambalea, en unos meses, el sentido de su vida, amenazado por la incertidumbre, la desesperanza y el miedo a un futuro de dependencia. Es una mujer luchadora, capaz de superar obstáculos a su discapacidad y le pide al sistema sanitario una respuesta inmediata para aliviar su problema actual de salud: el dolor como la punta de un iceberg y debajo el derrumbe de su estabilidad emocional, social y familiar. Se siente socialmente comprometida y entiende el gasto económico que supone su baja laboral por el retraso diagnóstico y terapéutico.

The protagonist of the biographic story is physically handicapped by paralysis in her right, supporting arm or poliomyelitis and tells of her experience over eight months of evolving, excruciating pain which makes her completely dependent on others for the activities of daily life. Her story recounts how the pain effects her body and all the aspects of her as a person, and how, during some months, she grapples with her sense of life, threatened by uncertainty, distress, and fear for a future of dependence. She is a fighter, capable of overcoming obstacles and challenges from her handicap, and asks the health system for an immediate answer for alleviating her actual health problem: the pain like the point of an iceberg and underneath it all, the crumbling of her emotional, social, and family stability. She feels socially compromised and comes to understand the economic expense that her unemployment money must support for her delayed diagnosis and therapy.
