  • Resumen
    • In the historyof art of the 14th century, the notoriety of Jean Pucelle is well established. Numerous publications have made it possible to reconstitute this extraordinary artistic personality ever since Leopold Delisle discovered his name in the Bible de Robert de "Billyng". Kathleen Morand's essential monograph established the basis of the corpus of his work. Since then, the discovery of the date of his death has made it possible to clarify his interventions and has above all focused on his followers.

Pucelle's beginnings are more obscure: a seal for the Confraternité de Saint Jacques aux Pèlerins -whose commission is mentioned in the scrolls of accounts between 1319 and 1324- has been considered to be the first work of this artist, at the time "young and immature".

The purpose of this article is to add a new work to his corpus -the ornamentation of a charter very precisely dated June 1318. It will be demonstrated that not only was Pucelle already a successful artist, but that he was also introduced into the highest spheres of royal French commissions.
