    want to compose a positive definition of madness: the feeling of psychic commotion and vertigo resulting from the individual’s perception of extra knowledge about himself. I will make a historical‑ philosophical and literary journey on the topic with some of the leading contemporary thinkers, from Kant and Pinel, Hegel, Hölderlin and Nietzsche, to Wittgenstein and Derrida. I present a different perspective from the current humanistic cultural convention that establishes a relationship of efficient causality between the nosological entity “schizophrenia” and the artistic production, arguing that the one who creates art is the individual, the artist, not an alleged psychic failure.

    Je veux formuler une définition positive de la folie: le sentiment de commotion et le vertige psychique résultant de la perception d’une connaissance supplémentaire de l’individu sur lui‑ même. Je ferai une démarche historico‑ philosophique et littéraire sur le sujet avec certains des plus grands penseurs contemporains, de Kant et Pinel, Hegel, Hölderlin et Nietzsche, à Wittgenstein et Derrida. Je présente une perspective différente de la convention humaniste qui établit une relation de causalité efficace entre l’entité nosologique « schizophrénie » et la production artistique; je soutiens que qui crée et fait de l’art c’est l’individu, l’artiste, pas un présumé handicap psychique.

    Pretendo formular uma definição positiva de loucura: o sentimento de comoção e vertigem psíquica resultante da perceção de conhecimento extra do indivíduo sobre si próprio. Farei um percurso histórico‑ filosófico e literário sobre o tópico com alguns dos principais pensadores contemporâneos, de Kant e Pinel, Hegel, Hölderlin e Nietzsche, até Wittgenstein e Derrida. Apresento uma perspetiva diferente da atual convenção cultural humanística que estabelece uma relação de causalidade eficiente entre a entidade nosológica «esquizofrenia», funcionando como Deus ex‑machina, e a produção artística, onde defendo que quem cria e faz arte é o indivíduo, o artista, e não uma suposta deficiência psíquica.
