Resumen de A newly discovered manuscript of pseudo-Aristotle’s "Physiognomonica"

Lisa Devriese

  • The “Minor Manuscript Collections” cataloguing project based at Leipzig University Library has brought to light a hitherto unrecognized manuscript containing the medieval Latin translation of pseudo-Aristotle’s Physiognomonica: Mühlhausen, Stadtarchiv, 60/13. Within the context of the recently published critical edition of this treatise, I examine the main text in order to assess its value in the manuscript tradition of the Physiognomonica, as well as the interlinear and marginal annotations of this manuscript. For both the main text and its marginalia, the Mühlhausen manuscript bears great similarities with another manuscript containing the Physiognomonica: Wolfenbüttel, Herzog August Bibliothek, Cod. Guelf. 17.21 Aug. 4°. At the end of the article, some questions are raised concerning the origin of these annotations.
